FAQs

How do I install my float frames?
Both our gallery depth and standard depth frames get installed by drilling through the back of the frame and into the cradle of the canvas or panel (the wood base). You will want to drill pilot holes prior to putting the screws in, to avoid cracking the basswood piece on the back of the frame. Usually one screw per side is enough, but more can be added to help secure the larger pieces.
Cardboard works well as a "spacer" to place between the artwork and the frame while you are installing.
Recommended screw length for gallery depth = 3/4"
Recommended screw length for standard depth = 1 1/4"
A countersink bit is recommended, but not necessary.

Where are you located?
We are located in between London and Chatham, approximately 2.5 hours from Toronto.

Is pick up an option?
Yes! Clients are welcome to pick up in person, however we find that given our location, most people prefer we ship products to them. Please contact us if you're interested in pick-up.

What wood do you use for your painting panels?
Our tondos/hearts/ovals are all constructed out of 3/4" Canadian maple plywood. Our cradled panels are 1/4" Canadian maple plywood.

What wood options do you offer for the float frames?
We currently only offer frames in Red Oak (with basswood as the secondary wood). We mill all the lumber ourselves, from rough boards to the finished frame lengths. Due to the amount of work it takes to prep the wood, we are unable to add different wood varieties at this time, although we hope to expand this in the future.

What colour options are available for frames?
We have a standard set of options available for the frames, but custom paint colours and stains are always an option, please message us if you'd like something different than our standard colours.
**Please note that due to the grain of the oak, solid paint colours will always still show the texture of the wood underneath. Oak by nature won't be smooth when painted - please see the sample pictures for examples of how the grain looks with paint vs stain.

How long does it take to prep my order?
We stock tondos, but all other pieces are made to order. Please allow 4-6 weeks for us to build your order. If we are experiencing a high order volume and have a longer wait time, we will contact you to let you know.

Do you ship your frames?
Yes! We ship all our products across Canada and the U.S. Certain sizes can be more expensive to ship - if you'd like to inquire about shipping costs for large or custom pieces just shoot us a message!

Do you have a store that the public can visit?
Unfortunately no, our shop is not open to the public - scheduled pick ups only.

So you take custom orders?
Yes! We love working with artists to create custom pieces based on their needs. Please message us with your ideas and we can discuss.

Can I purchase your products anywhere else?
We currently have our tondos available at Medium Effort Art's in Brockville. We are interested in potentially expanding to other stores - if you have a retail opportunity please message us.
